If you want to learn more about this charming Town, keep reading for all the info you need on moving to Glen Cove, NY.

The History

In early 1918, the Glen Cove area of Oyster Bay became its own separate city after being part of the Town for over two hundred years. The separation was because citizens wanted to keep their taxes where they belonged - among themselves and within the community rather than having it divided up among all residents. At this time, Glen Cove boasted some of the wealthiest people in Oyster Bay who paid higher property taxes compared to everyone else but felt that they weren't getting what they deserved when it came to government provisions such as police service and roads.

Activities in Glen Cove

Glen Cove is rich with activities that allow you to fill your days with new challenges and experiences. From the moment you wake up, if you want something active, then there are plenty of options available at our public golf course, or we also offer pickle ball, bocce ball, basketball, and tennis courts as well as baseball, soccer, basketball, and junior football leagues for kids. For those who prefer something a little more tranquil, you'll love exploring all the beautiful green space offered here - including three beaches, parks (including children's playgrounds), and two dog parks.

Schools & Education

Glen Cove City School District provides an education to children living in the city and those outside its borders. There are five schools within the district, each with a different focus based on grade level. Eugene J. Gribbin/ Katherine A. Deasy Elementary Schools offers preschool through second grade; Landing/ Margaret Connolly offers third through fifth grades; Robert M. Finley Middle School offers sixth through eighth grades; Glen Cove High School offers ninth through twelfth grades; and finally, Robert M. Finley Middle School is one of ten NASSP Breakthrough Schools. Glen Cove is also home to several private schools.
